Default K&N Air filter

i ordered a K&N air filter to replace the stock one thats tucked up by the fire wall on the passengers side of the engine bay. I ordered mine from ebay and went to install it and it was quite a lot smaller than the paper one that comes stock so i am convinced that it is not the right one... however, i went back onto the k&n website to see if i had ordered the right filter and the stock number that i got is 33-2209 which is the one the ebay guy sent me... so i am stuck in a predicament, could it be that my filter is different cuz i have a 2005.5 and not an 06 because that is what i put for the year as they dont have the 05.5 model... or could it be that the guy sent the right box but the wrong filter inside it, which seems odd...

thanks for the help guys!

like when i stick it in where the stock filter goes, its about 2 inches short length-wise which make me think that the put the wrong one in th box but the right box number

Yeah, it sounds like the wrong filter in the right box. It should be snug fit all around. No gaps. 33-2209 is the right part #.

ya i know.. 33-2209 is the correct one for the B7 model, which is what i ordered and the box said on the outside, but the actual filter that was inside the box was not the 33-2209 filter

Did this actually make any difference in power or sound?

well im still waiting to get mine so i can't tell you from experience, but im guessing it will allow more air into the engine which might increase power but only minimally and also might help my mpg as well!
