Default Gas Pedal Speed Limiter Question

I just posted this on VW Vortex but thought i'd post it up here since you guys all are really knowledgable.

I'm a complete Audi newb, coming over from the Mazda market and I had a few questions. I just picked up a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T in Quartz Grey Automatic. I LOVE the car but as I was playing around on some empty road I decided to floor it from 120kph (75mph) to 140kph (87mph) but noticed that the car wouldn't go any faster. The RPM's stayed constant and so did the speed. I was pretty confused and thought something was wrong, so I eased off the gas and floored it again only to notice that the pedal went a bit farther than I thought it would. It felt like there was some sort of safety setting in the pedal to prevent you from going too fast in case you didnt know or didnt want to. There seems to be 2 gas pedal "settings" or something? It's like you put the pedal to the floor and then if you press even harder you can feel that it can go down even more.
Maybe its just me because i'm really new to Audi so I haven,t really experienced that.
Has anybody ever noticeed the same thing? That theres those 2 "pedal" settings or whatnot? And that you haveto press beyond to go faster than 140kph (75mph)?

Default RE: Gas Pedal Speed Limiter Question

the stop thing on the peddle is there to prevent you pushing the peddle through the floor and save the carpet from damage, the speed/BHP is controlled by the ECU and that's where the limiter lives the 06 is CAN bus controlled so its called fly by wire ( no cables ) you could have it remapped for more power.

quick edit: the speed has a limiter built in for motorway driving to so you don't get a speeding ticket which is probably set to the mph your doing its to do with the stalks on the steering and needs to be turned off someone who has the same car could tell you how to turn it off

With CVT the accelerator pedal has two stops. Going up to the first one the pedal acts normally. But if you go to the second one it keeps the RPM at around 5100 (the max torque max power point), regardless of speed. This lets you accelerate quickly, but once you max out your gear ratio you won't go any faster because your RPMs are fixed. But that was 120 MPH for me.
