Hello,

I've been browsing these forums for a few days for information in regards to what I can do with my 2004 B6 A4, 6 Speed. So yesterday I decided that I would get my car a GIAC chip/flash, with the injector upgrade. The guy that did it also recommened that I get a new Air Filter, so I got one on impulse as he is my co-workers brother and I kind of trusted him. So anyways, right after he was finished with my car I did notice a performance increase, but I noticed that the ESP light was on. I'd push the ESP button and it wouldn't go off, meaning the ESP isn't working. So my question is, and sorry for being newb but I did try searching, does the GIAC flash disable my ESP permanently?

Also I got a check engine light right after I went around the block, so I took it back and they told me the code stated that my MAF needed to be replaced. My car is CPO, so I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow to have it replaced... I'm just wondering if that is a common issue as well or if replacing the air filter may have caused the malfuntion due to either the guy screwing it up somehow or the filter had something that clogged the MAF?

Lastly, I'm thinking that I'll be good for now with just upgrading with GIAC, the injectors and the DV(as soon as I can get it in for one). Is there anything important that I'm missing?

The first question is the most important one... the others are just randomly there for insight if someone feels like humoring me.

The ESP light comes on when your MAF is bad (for some odd reason). Same thing happened to me.

What air filter did you get? A day after I put a K&N in, my MAF went bad. Switch your filter back to the stock filter pronto!

another thing which might go bad is your PCV, im not sure how to change it but if you are still under warrenty they should replace it for free

rccks96, i just ordered a K&N air filter... if i put this in does it automatically mean that my MAF will go bad, and is there a way to get a better one that wont go bad with the new filter

Some people run K&N's with no problem. Others don't. Search around the forum, and you'll see this is a common problem though.

Plus - the K&N doesn't do squat, so why even risk it?

The filter he put in was a ITG Pro-Filter Element. Unfortunately I can't just swap it out for the stock one, it is long gone. So, I guess I'll go buy a new "stock" filter from somewhere, or will I be ok with a new MAF?

ESP light as mentioned can come on with bad MAF. It also will come on after a battery disconnect. In which case, it will go off on it's own after a few miles.
K&N doesn't do squat on our cars, so don't believe the hype. Although like anything we buy for our cars, the people with K&N's will never admit to that.
Any filter that uses oil, like the K&N, has a potential to fugck up the MAF sensor if there is too much oil involved.
It is possible to clean the MAF and see if maybe it did get gunked up with something.

Sorry im no help to the problem but i was wondering what type of numbers should one expect after putting in a GIAC chip

^^^GIAC puts you somewhere around 210-215 hp for the B6. Read nOOb guide.

As for your MAF problem, more than likely your sensor is still good. Its just reading low air input. K&N filters are sometimes way too oiled up for our sensitive SOB's so swap the filter for another one. Also try to clean your MAF and plugs with electronics cleaner (only). Also make sure the MAF is the right way and there's nothing clogging up airflow. So don't bother getting a new $250+ sensor. Its the filter not your MAF. I had the same problems, ABS, ESP and CEL. I just swapped for a new filter and it worked dandy!

i have a 05 b6 with giac tune, evo motorsport intake, evo m/s d/v

sometimes if u disconnect ur batt for about 10 min it will erase on dash codes. but if it comes back on then theres a problem
