i've heard a lot about the several different vendors who can chip a B7, such as APR. But what is then comparison between them in terms of performance, reliability, and how smooth they keep the engine. Its great to have a strong engine, but not if its got an accelerator that works like an on-off switch. Thanks.

the difference between the different chips like APR, GIAC and REVO, is mainly where they apply the new power to the power curve. If you check on the newbie forum it talks about the difference between where the 3 allocate the new power along the curve.

there is the link to that thread... but another thing you should strongly take into account is which company is closest to you, that way if you have any problems they arent that far away so they can troubleshoot them and help you out rather than having to send out your ecu and not have a car for a few days

i have heard good things about all. draw back on the apr is that you are able to change through stock/91/93...etc. which is a cool feature but have heard from multiple shops that it is super hard on the ECU. I wouldnt know becuase i dont own one but thats what they said. Im getting the GIAC once I go over a 1000 miles, which came recommended by matrix integrated who do a crazy amount of vw/audi mods so i trust what they have to say. I was set on the APR because a lot of people rep it on forums but Im going to give the GIAC a shot.

i have heard from a few ppl who have GIAC chips and they say they wouldnt have it any other way. and honestly i think they are all pretty much the same. the deciding factor for me would be upgrade discounts and proximity to where i live, so in case i have any problems they arent too far away so i can get them to help me out

if your going to get a chip and maybe someday BT make sure your vedor has the upgrades.

ya exactly... thats what i was talking about, if you are ever planning on perhaps going bigger and thinking about wanting to go faster down the line, or even if you dont think you are, its always good just in case to chose a place that does discounted upgrades because after a while you may end up getting used to the chip and want more power out of it
