Default newbe here. timing belt issues.

Hello, I'm new the the forum. Heres the deal. I just picked up a 99 audi a6 from a dealership. It was a trade in.There was a ticking noise coming from the motor when the car got hot. This audi had one owner. I am the second. It has a 113k and after reading post about timing beltgot it home and parked it. I went and picked up a bently manuel and did the timing change. Belts, water pump, thermistat, tension pistion and both pully wheels. All went great. No more ticking noies nice and quiet. About a week later I could hear a ticking noise coming from the right side of the motor. I took off the covers and discovered that the timing belt was not as tight as it should be. I assume that the belt is making that ticking noise. So now i need to know why the tension piston is not compensating for the looseness. Can you guy tell me what you think
