Default potential 3.2 Avant owner

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for some info on the Audi ownership experience, specifically reliability.
I've been a Subaru fan for the last 12 years and 2 years ago bought a 2005 Legacy GT turbo wagon. I've put my trust in Subaru reliability and avoided Audi because I felt they had a spotty reputation, but lately my Legacy has been consuming oil (only 18k on it), so my faith in Subaru has been shaken.
I realize this is an Audi board so you're probably biased towards Audis, but I'm looking for some honest opinions on reliabilty and repair issues. I don't want to "jump from the frying pan into the fire."
Just to give you some background, I used to have a 2001 BMW 330i so I'm no stranger to German cars, and I want power so I'm looking at the 3.2 FSI (and am currently gun-shy of turbos).
Can any of you shed any light? Also, can you refer me to other useful boards?
Thanks.

Not exactly the comparison that you're asking for, but my wife went from a 2000 Subaru Outback wagon to the 2008 A6 Avant 3.2 6AT Quattro. We got rid of the Subaru with 107,000 on the clock.

In any case, I never did like the way the Subaru drove. The 2000 model was under powered and didn't give me the feeling that I was in control of the car, but that I was trying to control the car. The A6 Avant is a car that I feel in control of at any speed. It goes where you point it without hesitation or delay and feels like it wants to do it for you whereas the Subaru felt like it had to be forced to go where you pointed it and didn't like it one bit.

My wife is not a spirited driver by any stretch of the imagination, whereas I am quite spirited. The A6 Avant with the Automatic isn't anywhere as fun as my A4 3.2 6MT Quattro, but they're entirely different cars also.

The bottom line, to me, is if the A6 Avant 3.2 Quattro is that nice, I would imagine the A4 Avant 3.2 Quattro would be closer to the fun I have with my A4 (smaller car, lighter weight, same 3.2l...).

from talking to some machanics (enthusiests and audi cert) they all said that the 3.2fsi engine is a great engine. If your in the warranty i woudln't worry. but once out, it does get costly if something does break

I have ~8900 miles on my 08 A4 Avant 2.0T, and have had zero problems (knock on wood). From what I've read on the audiboards, the 2.0T has more potential at tuning/performance options than the 3.2.

Good luck.

Both engines are good. 3.2 is Solid V6.
2.0T is a pretty quick for a 4 cylinder + very mod friendly + gets better gas mileage than its older bro 1.8T.
