Default Help Gauge Cluster LED Check Engine LED Out.

I have a 1996 a4 q and everything works fine except the check engine light on the dash. I'm getting mixed info when i did a search. Is it a led or is it a bulb. Can i just solder in a new led on the board? has anyone oped up there cluster and tried to repair just one led light. I called a gauge repair company and they get 350. just to open it up...It seem pretty straight forward jut soldering on an led for 2.00 to me...anybody attemp this?

If I'm not mistaken 96 and 97 are all bulbs for the instruments and the warning lights. Later years were Leds. For Speedometer, Tach, Temp and all guages the bulb is 12V 1.1 Watt with an orange base Part number 4A0919040C. For the warning lights and such the bulbs have a black base and are 12V 1.2 Watt. How do I know you ask? I just had my cluster out and replaced bulbs that were burnt out. The cell is the black based bulb 12V 1.2 watt.

Good Luck...
