I have a 1996 2.8q and the AC hasn't worked since I bought it. I did some diagnostic stuff and found that if I bypassed the high/low pressure switch, the compressor came on and everything was running smooth. So I bought a switch off ebay, plugged it in, but nothing happened. I just figured that it was a shitty part that the guy had sent me. So I went to an actual aftermarket store and got one brand new. Once again though, nothing changed. Right now I'm just driving around with a bypassed switch because it's so hot up here (90's and up right now, can hardly wait for august!!) If anybody knows what the heck is up with the switch working when bypassed but not when i put a new one on, help me out here.

Its possible that the switches are doing their job and ur either over or under filled... Id say wiring but if you short the connector to get it to work then thats fine... maybe something wrong with the pin on the condenser.

have you checked the fuses under your dash? You have to remove the knee bolster for that.

Keep in mind your compressor turned on because you supplied direct power to it. If your low or have to much gas in the lines the compressor will not turn on.

all the fuses are good and I just had the freon filled by a dealer so i know its not that. it blows cold now that it's bypassed so i dont think its the condenser either.
