i have been looking for a giac chipped ecu for my 99 1.8t automatic, 557p code.
i have found a few that are for the manual transmission, when i do a search it looks as though manual ecu and auto ecu will still work (as long as the ecu code is the same) but require a flash to change it to automatic instead of stick. i have searched on here on how to do this and except for people saying it can be done, have not found out how to do it.

i do have vag com available to do it with.
i have searched this forum and cannotfind out how,

I'm not sure on that one. Gotta ask the experts. You definitely don't want to mess around with your ECU...
