1. Swap the coil with another cylinder, then re-scanand make sure you didn't get a bad one.
2. Check for pin retention on the coil plug. If one of the pins is pushed back or the (wire to pin) connection is intermittent, you could change stuff all day with no improvements.
Of course, this is me assuming that this engine uses coil packs. I'm still looking for an electrical schematic.
Might want to check your ICM - i had the same problem on cylinder 4 and changed everything - turned out it was that - i think its $109 from rock auto - 2 second replacement.
Thanks! i now have a misfire on cylinder 4 as well as 5 and another code for random misfires.. SWEET!!! Im leaning towards the ICM. and yes the B5 S4 2.7t uses coil packs
How much are the pack for the 2.7, they were only like $40 on the 1.8T. I kept an extra one in the clove box at all times. would take like thirty seconds and zero tools to swap it out if i needed to. But they did go out all the time. As I found out later, the 2003 1.8Ts had a recall on the coil packs,.....duh!!
