Default Airbox

I put a K & N open element filter on my car today and its pretty loud. I left the bottom of the stock airbox in there for it to rest against but what is that hose that connects to the side of the stock airbox and is it ok if i dont have a filter on it?

secondary air injection.

when i did my oil cooler, I took the hose right out, and wedged some foam over the SAI pump inlet. One less thing to F with when Im working around the engine.

Not to mention the hose gets so brittle that it cracks when you touch it. I replaced part of mine with some heater hose. I have a small breather filter on mine that came with the P-Flow Kit from Nuespeed.
