Default night panel DIY

so a friend of mine has a saab 9-3 with a "night panel" button feature. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_900#Black_Panel)
i noticed in my a4, without turning the headlights on, all the needles on the dash are already lit up.
is there a do it yourself mod that can turn the headlights on without lighing up the dash instruments?
for example, tonight, hold down the high beam stalk and drive around... thats what i want, but low beam, and nothing to hold down.

Default RE: night panel DIY

I know with VAGCOM you can turn the needles and backlights on and off and set them to come on with the headlights and such, but I have yet to buy a VAG COM to find out just how controlled you can get.

Bottom line is, friends don't let friends drive Slaabs... =P

Thats actually a pretty cool feature though, ask your friend if they can open and close the windows/sunroof with their remote though
