Default 2001 A6 will not crank

Hello everyone,

I am hoping that someone has seen this issue I am having.

It all started when my wife told me that the battery light came up. So I checked everything and sure enough there was a problem. I changed the battery (it needed one) and the alternator. When I tried to start the car, it did not crack at all. I do not even hear the solenoid kicking in. At this time because I am fed up, I changed the starter also. But it still does not crack at all.

So this is what I have checked so far:
1) Immobilazor recognizes the keys
2) I have always 12V to the starter
3) When I try to start, the signal wire has 12V
4) There is ground to the starter.
5) I have checked the relay under the dash
6) Checked the starter outside from the trans and it works when I apply voltage.

Am I missing something? Am I supposed to do something with the computer e.g. erase any codes?

Help! Don't want to take it to dealer.

Thank you in advance

Demetri

I had the same problem. Ignition switch was the blame. The following is a link to a DIY that I did.

Hope it solves it.
