I've searched and searched, but all I can find is 2.75 inches as being the largest exhaust diameter that is made for the A4 B5 1.8T. Is there a particular reason for that? This is my first European car so I'm just wondering. I'm used to running 3 inch catbacks on turbo cars. However, this was on nissan 2.0 sr20det engines and the mitsubishi GSX 2.0 engines. I read somewhere that for turboed cars, the larger the exhaust the better with 3" being the minimal. Even my brother's 1.8 ca18det engine runs a 3" exhaust.
So is there a mandrel bent 3" catback made for the A4 cars? If not, I guess I'll be getting the Milletek one that is supposed to be 2.75 inches. I know there's always the custom exhuast option, but I live in California and I don't want no CHP or Smog ref pointing at the welds on my exhaust.
Thanks.

I posted the same thing on June 24 and I still haven't gotten an answer. Thermal Research sells the 3 inch for b6 and up only, other than that your going to have to get it custom done. But finding a shop is really hard. You can go Neuspeed I think their's is 70 mm also(2.75in) if you wanna save some money and www.modacar.com has it for $759, milltek and GHL are kinda pricey in my opinion but I'm not sure about teh dimensions of the GHL I thought they said 2.75(might want to double check) also and comes with a HFC for $1049 http://www.ghlmotorsports.com/
Do you plan on going big turbo? if not 2.5" isadaquate for our cars. The only guys that Ive seen running 3" are those that are also running a big turbo set up. There are literally thousands of threads about this between here and Audizine which prolly would explain the lack of responses. gl.
