Default Giac Ecu/ Tip Chip AND Exhaust

Hey everyone,

I have a 2000 audi s4 Tiptronic with 78k miles on it.

I was looking into possibly Giac ecu and tip chip + Borla exhaust (i dont have enough money for awe twin 2) and i was wondering if thats a decent set-up and if their are any problems i should know about. Also about the tip chip, does it make a huge difference in shifting time and i heard if you drive normal it throws itself in gear, Is this true?

Also about how much Hp to the crank and wheels do you think this would put out? and 0-60 times?

All help is greatly appreciated.

-Nick

Default RE: Giac Ecu/ Tip Chip AND Exhaust

Well since you and I are in the same boat I will share what facts that I have found out to date.

The GIAC chip is the way to go because it doesn't run the 22psi that the APR or AWE chips offer and I believe it is around 15-18psi for the GIAC and it mods more areas within the motors parameters than the APR/AWE for a better balanced motor. Get the flash loader while getting the chip so you can switch between the stock program and the RACE program. This cuts down on extra wear and tear on the car... -weekend=RACE Program- The tip tronic program changes the shift points in the trans for a closer ratio.. Between 0.1 and 1.0 sec difference between shifts which is a huge difference. Audi also states that the trans is sealed for life and you don't need to change the fluid but I would recommend it before getting the flash. Hopefully that helps

The exhaust on the other hand is more of a personal area. I ran the borla on my 98a4 and loved it. I also ran the APR flash and blew the motor... The rule of thumb on the other hand is the less restrictive the exhaust setup the more hp/tq will be gained.Do everything at once including thedown pipe -both/3in- and finish it off with the borla exhaust. -I think the Borla is only cat back-

In terms of power gains do a search on dyno results. You should be very impressed on the tq and hp after the chip and exhaust. The numbers are escaping me right now...

P.S. I'm not sure what your car background is but mods on these cars tend to lead into other supporting mods. If you are planning on the chip please get two diverter valves and have them installed while your there. Also might want to pick up a K&N filter to drop in the stock air box before the chip job. Spend some time seraching on here and you will find a ton of very usefull stuff. Welcome to the forums by the way and good luck.

^ what a paragraph, that would take me like ten days to type. Anywho its all the same for hp and torque numbers, 60 hp and 110 ft lb torque. 0-60 like 5.2? Not sure cause mine isa 6 spd and l do the 1/4 in 13.6.l have the awe exhaust twin 1 but have nothing against borla so sure go with that. Oh and don't forget downpipes or piggies while your there.
