Default Genuine Audi iPod Adapter Installation

Hi guys, first post.

I have a 2003 A4 with the Bose stereo and the built-in 6 CD changer. I am interested in getting the genuine Audi iPod Adapter they have listed on their site (8E0051444). I don't have the external CD changer that usually goes in the glove compartment, nor sat.

Parts:
[ul][*]Aside from purchasing the iPod Adapter from Audi, do I need any additional parts from the dealer? Do I need this "CD changer prep" they mention in the description?[*]What is the other part on their site for ( iPod Interface | 8E0857925D ) ? Do I need this as well, or is this for other years/models?[/ul]
Installation:
[ul][*]I plan on installing this myself. Aside from the key to remove the radio, do I need any additional tools?[*]Does the radio require any programming by the dealer to enable the iPod adapter? This is usually true for most cars when adding a CD changer, but I'm not sure about the iPod Adapter or the A4.[*]Any chance the instructions are availalble online in PDF format?
[/ul]Thanks in adavance.

I have the Audi iPod Adapter and installed it myself.

All you need is what they send you. You can have a dealer remove the radio for you or you can buy the tool; it's up to you.

You'll have to disassemble the glove compartment; however, other than that, it's a fairly easy install. The one thing to note is that Audi locks your ipod when it's plugged in so you can't manually scroll through your library. I'm fairly certain the IceDenision allows you to scroll through your library. Other than that, I love my adapter.

Instructions come with the package and you do not need any reprogramming. Hope this helps.

Hailjericho, thanks for the information. I'm glad it doesn't need any dealer programming and all the parts come with the Adapter.

No - B6 models don't have the capability. In fact, I don't think that theB7Audi's radio has the technology either. Kind of odd - I'm sure it's something that they'll fix in the future. The sound quality is awesome though, second to none.

Why would you purchase the Audi adapter over the third-party ones? I mean, it's almost 10x the price.

Not really, I got mine from an audi wholesale distributor at a decent price with a nice warranty. I think it for about $160. Definintely not 10x the price. Some people prefer to keep their cars stock with OEM parts.

Well, it's one thing to keep the car stock with OEM parts... It's another thing to go bankrupt in the process.

Like I said - it's a choice. I don't think a $160addition is justifiably definable as an amount that breaks the bank. Either way, if you don't agree with it, that's fine.

Not really worth getting upset about!
