Default B7 S4: RS4 grille install...

Hey everybody:

Just wanted to post a quick before & after on changing out my stock S4 grille for an RS4 one. Forums like these and posts like this one (I hope) really help me make decisions regarding modifying (or really, personalizing) my car. I have gotten so much from guys posting up what they have done that I try to return the favor every chance I get. So here's this one in case anyone's "on the fence" about this mod. Personally, I think the stock B7 S4 grille is nice. And "nice" is, well...nice. But I think a more aggressive look is what an S4 needs. Especially on my white one. The contrast is accentuated and it is definitely meaner. It's not really a tricky DIY but it is a time-consuming one. I just got this car and wanted to start to get to know it so I started with the front. In case you're wondering, it is indeed a full bumper removal-type task. Lots to do but pick a cool, lazy day and it should be fun!

Here's the visual effect it had on my ride. I love it. It has inspired me to paint the silver in the headlamps black and even the chrome window strips black to toughen it up a bit more. Also you'll see that I hit the chrome rings with a satin varnish so that it matched my mirrors and the other satin silver parts on the car. Feel free to ask questions. I have already forgotten how I did the install and I may hurt something trying to remember but I'll sure try. I should have taken pics and did a decent write-up but instead, here's at least the post that got me there. http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext67.shtml Thank you to 4RingS4 for taking the time!!! Also of note: At least on my car (07), I was spared from having to remove the 8 hard-to-get-to bolts he speaks of in #5! I did remove the two nuts in the back of A but I simply pulled out (away from car) and that side of the bumper popped right out. It scared me at first because it was so easy but at closer look it seemed to be designed to do just that. This will all make sense if you try this yourself and use the link. (I hope) Good luck and hope this helps someone.

Oh yeah. I also put the RS4 style grilles in my foglight surrounds too. That is a matter of cutting out the grille sections from the 44 dollar (each) RS4 replacement fog surrounds and epoxying them to the back of your stockers. I like that they match more closely to my new grille but I asked if I should have just bought the whole RS4 front bumper assembly and gotten it all over with. My wallet said no.
Got all these parts from ECS Tuning. Finally to the pictures...

Thanks for looking!
Terry
