Does anyone here have a aluminum flywheel? does it chatter really bad? Is there a performance difference, what is your opinion on it, thinking of getting one and maybe someone has a clip of the chatter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its going to have some chatter.... i wouldnt get it unless your car isnt a daily driver... a couple guys on audizine have them

Performancewise-you get better/faster shifting.
And yes, it does chatter, but like Papachristou said, if its a DD there is no really a big need of getting one.
But once again, if u get a good deal, id upgrade it.
It depends on the weight of the flywheel and what it is made of. The lighter the flywheel or less dense material it is made of the chatter will be louder. There is a 9, 11, 15, 16 and 20 lbs single mass flywheel for the A4 1.8T, the lighter ones are made of billet aluminum and the 15-20 lbs flywheels are made of billet steel. Most people go with the 15-16 lbs flywheels.
What type of clutch disk also depends on how much chatter you will hear, a unsprung will have more chatter vs a sprung.
I run a 16 lbs flywheel, sprung 6 puck and only really notice the chatter when the car is at idle sitting next to a wall or another car.
I put on a single mass 15lb aluminum flywheel with a stg2 southbend clutch, to put it short i pulled the trans back out in a month because my head hurts from shifting. I put the stock one back in which is SO much nicer to drive. The aluminum one was fun to drive but far from fun in traffic. I also hear that running an unsprung clutch or even a sprung clutch will have significantly reduced life on the clutch disc/pressure plate, like anywhere from 25-50k MAX.
Which disk did you have for that SB stage 3? Because the disk used for a LWFW is completely different then one for a stock flywheel when it comes to the SB stage 3. For a stock flywheel they use a unsprung ridged iron disk and for a lwfw they use a sprung full face OFE disk which is also used for the stage 4. You cant throw the sprung disk onto the stock flywheel which is why I am asking because you should have been using a sprung full face disk with that 15 lbs flywheel.
The type of material used, driving habits and how much power the car makes are really has the most effect on how long the clutch will last.
OOPS, miss fire on the key board, i have the stg2, which was another mistake on my part using the LW flywheel.
Ok thats better. I dont even offer the stage 2 because going with kevlar on the disk is never a good thing for a street car. Plus if you dont break it in perfectly it wont last very long.
I know, it took me damn near 1,000 miles to break that turd in. I don't really care though, if i break it in 20,000 miles i'll just get an agressive puck style clutch and use my aluminum flywheel again when i put a larger turbo on.
