Default Removing fender lining

Is it bad? My tires rub on my B5's fenders and I am looking into rolling them. Someone told me it protects shit from rocks but what is it protecting?

They're just there to keep crap from flying up into the engine compartment and components behind the bumper/headlights/etc... They basically serve the same purpose as the belly pan. Prolly better off leaving them on if you can

yeah as for rolling your fender the plastic will still fit just not like it to much as you are not really moving the fender that much farther out. yeah we had the skid plate post some time ago, so do with out it so go with it as meat said it is there for a reason so I leave that stuff. plus there was a post on AW about removing and leaving it on how the air flow was, with it on they said it flowed and cooled the car faster at speed.

HAHA That was me that told you that. Guess other people agree with me, you want me to name the visible parts that can be damaged if thats removed totally? Cooling the car faster is not worth the gain even if that was possible from just removing the plastic. If you want to cool faster buy a bigger oil cooler and IC's, don't run your ac etc....

Make sure whoever does it knows what they're doing. I've heard it's pretty easy to crack the paint when you roll the fenders.

The liner also helps reduce road noise - I agree with the above that it's better to leave it on.

I just went through the same thing on my B7 and ended up just raising it. When my 245s wear out I'm going to put on 235s and lower it back down.

When I got my car the previous owner had done this and it has caused a few problems already. For one there is a leak detection pump in the driver rear wheel well that has a filter on it. That does not last very long with water and rocks hitting it all the time. also put a hole in my windshield washer tank. I wouldn't do it. but if you do you can send them to me, lol
