Default replacing shift knob question...

just wondering if anyone here has put a B6 shift knob on their B5.. and if they are the same thread and fitment. i like the B6 knobs much better.. and mine has no shift pattern on it right now cause the previous owner had a heart-o-gram under the clear cap.. looked cool but wasnt my style. so i want that factory look back.. its 5 speed, push down reverse to the right and down.. (where 6th would be)

will this work out?

go with a wooden b5 shift knob. it looks sweet and matches the wood grain dash. Look for it, that's what I have.

Default RE: replacing shift knob question...

Point of information requested.

How does the knob come off exactly? Mine is worn out, leather is practically falling off it and I do have the wood trim so mschwister12, could you point me in a good direction for one of the woodgrain shift knobs you mentioned, and anyone else instruct me on removal and replacement of the knob? I've tried twisting it off, having assumed it just screws on and off, but it seems abnormally hard to twist off, is there some special way to do it or do I just need to twist harder?

thanks.

sorry to threadjack.
