Default Check engine light and runs rough

2004 S4, 6 speed.

I pulled out of my appartment compex today and the car started running really rough and the check engine light came on. I tried contacting a dealer and some repair facilities but nowhere is open until monday because of the holiday. Does anyone have some recomendations of things that I can check or thoughts as to what the problem is?

thanks in advance.
Tyler

Might be your MAF but go get your codes checked then post.

I just had the codes checked at the closest autozone. It pulled up PO305 for a misfire in cylinder 5. I am going to try the cheapest solutions first which would be a fouled plug then a coil. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.

thanks for the fast reply, I am about to head out there and pull the spark plug to see if its fouled or not. If its fine I will look into tracking down an O2 sensor.

how exacty to I remove the orange coil sitting on top of the plug? Any special tools needed? I did't try pulling on it too hard for fear of breaking the tabs.

so I got the coil off and exchanged it with bank 6 and cleared the codes. I ran it about a mile until the cel came back on and got a code for misfire to bank 6 (where I move the coil from bank 5) so I am fairly certain the coil is the problem. I am going to call the local audi dealer in the morning and have one over-nighted.

I would agree and you did it the right way to check the problem ( it save cash the dealer would steal ) as they do cough

I got the coil from the local audi dealer for $38 and it fixed the problem. I am glad it was a cheap fix but while was replacing it I checked the plugs and they look like they are in need of replacement. The dealer is selling the plugs for $22 each which I think is rediculous. Can anyone recomend a decent spark plug for less than about $12 each?

edit: Also the coil the dealer gave me is black on top instead of red. It looks like shit but works fine.
