Default Rear Rotors

I have a 99 Audi A4, V6, non-Quattro. I am currently replacing my rear rotors, but ran into a snag. I noticed when I removed my rotor it had, what i can only describe as some insert that did not come with the new one. It looks to be for the bearings. My question is, what is this thing called, and can i reuse it? Also how can i remove it ans reinstall, will i need to take it to a machine shop?
