Default Just got my first A4 looking into upgrading soon!!!

Hey guys so i just bought my first A4 and i have to say its a big step up from my 1996 contour that i had.
Car is
1997 A4 quattro 2.8L auto
Silver color with 59K grey leather interior
got a great deal for it from a friends dad for $5k

So far the car is stock but i have a car system which im going to be putting in this week

2 12" Kicker CompVR Subs inclosed in a Kicker box, powered by a 1000W Kenweeon Excelon 2ch amp and 1 farat digital capasitor.

Other than that ive been looking on ebay for projectors and tail lights so far.

Please help me with some ideas of what i can do with my car as far as looks and performance and sound.

You have a 2.8, so there's not a whole lot of room for improvement (performance) unless you want to throw a supercharger in in which case, I'd probably sell your 2.8 and pick up a 1.8T.

Honestly, stick to cosmetics/interior/exterior work. Audis are beautifully styled cars, so you can do a lot of work to make them look and feel very nice. For sound, you can probably get a new intake and a new exhaust? But that's about it.

if for some reason you have the money for a supercharger (about $3000-4000) that would be awesome. but since thats almost as much has you paid for it i doubt it. get atleast a cat back exhaust (id suggest borla or brullen if you can find it) if you do a cold air make sure you have a box too so you dont get a bunch of crap from these guys about how your just sucking in hot air you could also chip it there are a few places that claim 15-20hp gain. other than that theres not a lot performance wise but there is alot you can do to make the car look very nice. paint your lowers, different from bumper (id suggest an s4 front thats what i have and i think it makes the car look alot better), lip spoiler, you could get some different wheels and lower it, tinted windows... the list goes on.

anyway congrats and have fun with it. and youll never want another car after owning this one

Welcome to the forum.

As others have noted, not much in the HP department for the 2.8's, and especially the 97 with the 12v motor. Stick with improvements to handling, brakes, cosmetics, and comfort and you will be happy with the results and money you have spent. Also, take comfort in the fact that your car has so little mileage, which is a big plus. Things start to go around 100k which cost some money, so start to save up. Remember to change the timing belt at 75K or less. If you get the bug to find more horsepower, sell the car and get a 99.5 or newer 1.8TQ with a manual trans...easy to up the ante with that combo.

Cheers,

Steve
