Default confused?! Got smoked

Last week i raced a 97 VR6 and i got smoked... all he has done is an intake and a chip... My 98 a4 has an APR chip along with an upgraded DV and a magnaflow catback exhaust... Im thinking that he smoked me because Im runing a short ram air intake and it was pretty hot out that day... We raced from a 40 mph roll...

How and Why did I get smoked? I dont care that i Lost... I just hope that theres nothing wrong with my car...

PS: what are you guys shiftin at to take advantage of the turbo boost?

Thanks

he smoked you because he has a 200lb lighter FWD car.. and an engine that's rated stock with more HP than yours is chipped. my GIAC B5 with milltek only made 170HP/200TQ.. the 97 VR6 is ratted 172HP stock(so.. account for a chip and intake and it should make about that anyway)

for the K03, I shift @ 5,500 RPM. anything past that and the turbo looses too much of its efficiency to be worthwhile shifting later.

GIAC is only making 170hp? that sounds wrong... shouldnt it be in the range of 180-200hp?

dont worry man my 30v 2.8 walks on chipped 1.8's all day. People just get so caught up on "turbo" cars to understand that 1.8's are one of the slowest production cars out there, even when there chipped a civic will give it a run lol

I beat a chipped 1.8 without my chip...

However audis are heavy. Get used to loosing thats why you make your car look good and dont race.

Ughh.. And you raced from a roll... why 40mph? Your AWD was a handicap rather than the advantage. Perhaps from a standing point might've been closer. And you got about 200lbs in sound equipment.
