On average, whats the life expectancy for stock brake pads? Assuming non agressive driving.
I have 22k on mine and am wondering when I should start to worry.
about every 25thousand miles is worth it....thats about 2 years of solid driving.....thats actually playing it safe but with audi's if you show them some love....they will right back

yeah i think i changed mine right after 25k...there was a lil life left but the sensor wire was falling off
didnt change my back ones till just recently..about 30k
o ok... just wondering as im just under 44k and was thinking about buying some aftermarket pads online and doing them myself. do you think it would be a bad idea to just replace the front for now and then do the back later? would the difference of new ones and quite used ones throw the car off at all in any way

noooo its not uncommon for people to change only their fronts their first time because the rears don;t get as much stress as the fronts (think of it as your front brakes do 80% of your braking while the backs do 20%)
as a result your rears will last you longer but typically people swap out everything because a brake service will do all 4 at once ....if you change your fronts i personally recommend EBC's either green or red "stuff" brake pads as they leave almost little to no ugly black brake dust on your wheels. but do a little research on brake pads and go for it (you may want to ask your dealership about your car if it got new brakes when they were checking it over it may save you some dough)
