Default 2000 A8

Never tried this before but you guys are experts-here goes.

My 2000, 4,2, A8's been down for about 5 months now and has about 75,000 miles on it. The transmission went on me as I was driving back from Easton PA to Philadelphia. Yes the "Check Engin" light went on and off on several ocassions before it happened. Took it to the dealer where they turned it off, somhow, for free or charged me up to about $800.00 for putting something on the intake. Had to get the Flatbed. Took it to several places before taking it to the last mechanic, for a three year guarantee, who specializes in transmissions. He rebuilt and reinstalled but is having big problems with the computer which shorted out and I think it had to be replaced and/or reprogramed-I don't know for sure. I'm told he drove it to the dealer but they say it has to be taken to Indiana, something about the computer or software-I don't know and thought somone would be able to help Let me know if you can help and thanks. WWBjr.
