Default 1996 A6 Recalls

Hello all, I am a proud owner of an 1996 Audi A6 (non-quattro) and started having electrical problmes at start up recently. My blinkers, AC, windows, and who knows what else just won't turn on or work sometimes when I first start my car. I was looking around on edmunds.com (love the website, been using it for years) and found that they have a recall mentioned on that website for my car.
Nature of Defect:
1. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH Recall Number: 96V017000
Dates Manufactured: JAN 1994 to DEC 1995
Number of Vehicles Affected: 24000
Date Owners Notified On: N/A

Vehicle: 1996 Audi A6
Defect Description:
DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCHES WERE IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED AND CAN CAUSE SOME ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES TO MALFUNCTION.

Consequence of Defect:
SOME ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES, SUCH AS, TURN SIGNALS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, LAMPS, POWER WIND0WS AND AIR CONDITIONERS CAN MALFUNCTION WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED.

Corrective Action:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH.

Is this recall genuine???? I contacted audi at audi.com and explained in an email the problem I was having and what I could do about it. They called me back this morning saying that there has never been such a recall, and that basically I was on my own. Which wasn't surprising coming from Audi, they never seem to want to help. Thank God I have finally found an awsome place here in Las Vegas where I know my car is taken care of and the people are honest. And if you are thinking its a dealership think again! I have had my audi for over 3 years and USE to always go to a dealership to get any maintaince done. Now I know to steer clear from these guys, over charge you and dont even do the work. I could go on and on about my great problems with dealerships but I wont waste your time. Just want to know if this recall or campian is true. Thanks for reading!
