Default Brake light problem

Hi there,

I am posting on behalf of a friend with a problem with their A6 2.5TDi SE that they are having a problem with and was wondering if you guys may be able to help.

Basically, the car would disengage out of park. This was eventually traced to a blown bulb in the high level brake light (which was causing any fuses to be put in to blow instantly). Once the offending brake light was replaced this allowed the car to sense the brake pedal was being depressed and therefore allowed the auto box to be shifted into drive. All of the lights and the rest of the car are working fine now, but the brake light warning sign is still displayed on the dash. Any ideas why this may be happening ?

Thanks

Ben.
