1993 90 CS Heater Core R&R

My 93 90 CS is in rough shape. I assume that the coolant leaking onto my driver side floor (one half gallon per day!) is coming from the heater core. Furthermore, i am assuming it is a lot of labor to replace, likely a $500 - $800 job.

My first question is, can I bypass the heater core, essentially connecting the intake and outtake hoses, as a stopgap until I trade the car in or sell it?

It is summer, I don't use the heat, and the AC doesn't work anyway.

Alternatively, how do I access the heater core if I choose to replace it myself? I've done a heater core in a much older car, and I know it is a matter of access under the dash. Does anyone have any tips on replacing it, or know the best way to do it myself?

Lastly, anyone interested in a 1993 90 CS, with 181k miles, that leaks oil, needs a heater core, a front shock and a few other things? Body is solid and no accidents (that I know of). I am the second owner and the original owner took very good care of it. The car has been good to me, but I don't have the time, nor the money to fix all of its problems at this point.

RE: 1993 90 CS Heater Core R&R

ye, its eays, just plug the hoses there. on the firewall. or use a peace of tube to bypass it all together. better just to plug it. and disconect. get two caps from autozone or stratus auto parts. get the ones that will fit inside the tube. then just tighten them inside, bleade the system before you do that. like clog one, but blead through another.
heater core cost more that 800 buks.

but I'm here to help, read my DIY you will get the idea of what you have to do.
