1993 Audi 100 Front Brake Pad
I need to replace my front brake pads on my 1993 Audi 100 CS Quattro sedan V6 model. I replaced the rear brake pads last year with no problem. But I cannot figure out the front ones. There are two bolts that seem to hold the caliper bracket. But the caliper itself seems to be have 2 giant hex bolts. I've never seen this type of set-up. The pads even have some connectors (I assume this is for wear indications).
What do I remove to loosen up the caliper to replace the pads? I tried to loosen up any bolt but nothing will rotate. So before I try something different, I wanted to find out if someone has any suggestion or point me to some instructions on which bolts and how to do this. Thanks, MSA10 |

Its standard floating caliper.
Just hold the inner Hex (15mm) and unscrew the (13mm) outside. I think unscrew the top one for ease of swaping. |
RE: 1993 Audi 100 Front Brake Pad
thanks for the reply! i see a plastic cap on the hex holding the caliper. when i remove the cap, i can see the hex nut inside. but there is a plastic boot covering it on the outside. so i need to remove the plastic boot so that i can turn the outside while holding the inside w/ a hex. i think that's what you are saying.
