1996 Audi Cabriolet shifter (not getting any gears)
No response from the shifter.
No OBD codes.
The interlock works in that you must apply the brake for it to move out of Park.
The car ran well (all gears) until the connector at the rear of the drain pan was pulled out by some road debris. I cleaned the connector and re-attached it.
Now getting no response from the shifter.
Hypothesis is there is another electrical issue and investigating a switch (potetiometer ?) built into the base of the shifter. As if the TCM isn't getting the message from it.
The wires in the pictured connector do not show any change in resistance when I shift.
What is it connected to inside the shifter? And how should it react when I shift ?
The two wires are red w black stripe and black w blue stripe.
Thanks, Charlie
