87 Audi 4000 -stalling
Just gave the old gal a tune up - rotor, plugs, cap and oil change. When I start up in the morning it idles and then stalls out a couple of times. Even when I drive a mile or so, and come to a light or stop sign when I take my foot off the gas it stalls - and sometimes is hard to start. I do have a hole in my exhaust and was wondering if the inconsistent back pressure was the culprit or if it was something else. Air filter was changed not too long ago

Exhaust has northing to do with the problem. If the car ran fine before the tune up then most likely you have some sort of a vacuum leak, timing is off, etc.

RE: 87 Audi 4000 -stalling
Thanks for the tip on the exhaust - the stalling occured prior to the tune up - rotor was burnt a little and plugs on first two cyl (its a 1.8) were fouled a bit. Tune up made it run marginally better

RE: 87 Audi 4000 -stalling
I'de check the idle bypass valve on the throttle body. They tend to clog up with carbon. Spray some carb cleaner in there, dry it and see what happens. Mine's doing something similar, but mine isn't just at idle. Plus mine only does it when it's hot...
