93 90cs starting problems
I have a 2.8L 93 90cs quattro thats been giving me starting problems. Only starts about 30% of the time and once started it runs fine(maybe a little rich). I found out if it does'nt start it's not getting any spark. Just woundering if anyone can tell me which sensers would prevent it from getting any spark? is there a way to flash the codes without a reader?
thanks for your help tmarch |
RE: 93 90cs starting problems
you can flash the cods with an LED light ... as far as the starting goes ... check the timming first, it's free to do, check the spark plug wires and distributor cap

RE: 93 90cs starting problems
I think I'm getting closer. I did find a vac. leakthe green hose coming from the fuel pressure reg.was disconnected at the end by themass flow senser I reconnected it and still nothing. Got spark now (don't know why I didn't have it before) I took off the fuel line before the regulator, cranked the motor and no fuel. So I figure it's the fuel pump. Or is it the relay? Is there a way to narrow it down? I can't find the fuel filter does anyone know where this is located on this car. I do see a canister on the bottom of the tank and I figured this is the pump. Or maybe its the filter? Do I have to pull the tank out to replace the pump? thanks for your help

RE: 93 90cs starting problems
the fuel filter might be in the engine compartment ... you might have a faulty fuel pump .... the pump can be replaced without removing the tank ... check the fuel pressure to narrow down fuel delivery problems
