Advice Request on Audi 100CS Repair or Yard?

I have a 1992 Audi 100CS that currently has 262,000 miles on it. It's had an oil leak (most likely Head Gaskets) that has progressed to about 1-qt every 80-miles. It is one oil-wet engine and exhaust. I've owned the car since 1996 at 38,500 miles, and the car still runs great otherwise. I've never had a car that got above 225,000 miles.

I think I must also be getting oil leaks from many seals/gaskets.

Please give me some advice on weather to replace with a used "AAH" engine $1100, go through a big gasket seal job on the engine $800, or send it to the yard? Or any other suggestion is welcome.

Looking on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market, I found a local 1995 90 AAH engine with 96,000 miles for $420, but I am nervous about dropping in an engine that I never saw or heard running, and also spending an additional $600 in labor to find out if it's any good.

I live in Colorado and wonder if a trustworthy person has an engine that runs and will sell. Also some general advice with this decision is welcome

Not much help on this forum unless a person has a rare or newer model it seems.
I have approximately 350k miles on my '91 90 and it's never used that much oil. I have bought an occasional recycled part before with no trouble yet but I'd go with overhauling mine if I needed it.
It depends on how much you like the car and whether or not you want to continue driving it.
