Audi 80/90 question turbo??

Just out of curiosity....giving someone has a audi 80 or 90 (1988+) with the regular 10 valve 2.3L 5cyl.....could you maybe take the intake/exhaust manifold +turbo (obviously all the needed parts) off of a 5000 turbo? ... makes u think of the possibilities as the 5000cs turbo quattro weighs around... 3400 pounds and the little 80 with the same engine (non turbo) only weighs around 2400-2600 pounds.......and isnt the older 5000 5cyl a 2.2?

I would appreciate any information at all on the subject

RE: Audi 80/90 question turbo??

Technically speaking... yes it can be done. In Europe the second generation Coupe was offered with 20V and Turbo. Since the 20V Turbo coupe was never offered here parts are going to be a problem. The 80/90 series may share many similar components with 5000/100/200. However the engine bay of 80/90 is different and much more cramped. Hoses, fittings, brackets, etc. are not going to be available. You will have to be very good at fabricating parts. If you do a search I think that you will find one member who is cramming a V8 quattro motor in to a 90.

RE: Audi 80/90 question turbo??

thanks, yeah i figured it could be done but aparently its in no way going to be easy. and a v8 in a 90?....gonna have to be the 3.6 heh.... and to tell u the truth if i could even get ahold of a v8 quattro i wouldnt be tearing down for parts either unless it was unsalvageable. thanks for the info on the turbo though. Im most likely going to put my money down on an older 5000cs turbo quattro because its going to be nearly impossible to find a 200 around here .... the only problem is audiworld says the 5000cstq weighs around 3300 pounds..........it still does 0-60 in 7.7 (audi world) but thats a pretty heavy car besides.....any thoughts?
