Audi 80 Esatate fuel surge

Hi. I have a problem with my 1994 1.6 fuel injected 80 estate. When under light aceleration it seems to surge then backs off at 1/2 seceond intervals. When started from cold it drives and accelerates perfectly. Only when warmed up does this happen. I have noticed that the temp gauge stays cool and warms up occasionally. Will a new thermostat cure this or is it something else? Cheers, Michael.

RE: Audi 80 Estate fuel surge

temp sensor/ thermostat could do that so a change wont harm and not expensive, other things to consider are the fuel filter/ vacuum leaks/ spark plugs and leads

RE: Audi 80 Esatate fuel surge

Have the same problem mate engine is fine from start up but once its warm i have noticed the car seems to hold back under accelaration until you get the revs really high. have noticed that i get the occosional missfire to. I have found that if i have to stop and turn the engine off when i restart the problem is much more noticable.
Have tried disconnecting the sensor at the front of the air filter this seems to work but the revs remain really high.
