AUDI QUATTRO COUPE 1991 ?????

Im looking to buy a 1991 Audi Quattro coupe, fully loaded power everything.. In good condition. But the kicker is it has 286000 Miles. The engine was rebuilt around the 200000 mark, has new belts, clutch might need to be replaced. I was thinking about 1500 bucks? I think he wants like 2ish. But the miles are killing me.. I know its a nice car, but it rides a little rough, and could have more problems in the future. By the way the AC doesnt work, but i live in michigan and its main purpose to me is SNOW CAR. TX PLEASE HELP

RE: AUDI QUATTRO COUPE 1991 ?????

if it was me I would buy it, but I would work into 1000-1500 by finding some more problems and some bogus about that model. but thats me, also me would work on the car myself no dealer, nobody but me and maybe some friends. so repairs myself, fuel gasstation, driving with lead leg.
also hars ride is almost in all that old audies, becoues suspension was built for heavier cars. VW Passat's suspension is in audi 80/90. VW passat is heavier that audi 80/90.
they shared same suspension desine and many parts like springs, struts, busing, sway bar, etc....

RE: AUDI QUATTRO COUPE 1991 ?????

Parts are going to go, on a car with that mileage. If the engine WAS rebuilt 86 thou ago, and if it runs well, engine, clutch, etc., I would be so inclined.

I no longer work on my own vehicle, but have a competent, decently priced mechanic. SOME parts are obscene in price, others, if you shop, you will find for way less than the dealers want, or even the aftermarket people.

Harsh ride can be bad shocks in the struts, bounce the front end, if it keeps rocking, they're probably shot. 100 bucks to replace them yourself. Could also be overinflated tires.

It's a '91, but it is a Quattro, that's worth 500 to a thou right there.

I like the 5000-100-200, but I'd probably go for it.

Cheers,

George
