drive shaft help needed on an 80
 
hi, i just bought an audi 80, G reg, the drive shaft has popped, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if the shaft just pulls out from the gearbox or if its more complicated than that to remove


any help info would be much appreciated, thanx!

As I can see its connected only by 6 bolts on each side.
you can probably release front part and pull it off the middele.
easeir if you just take the whole peace out, and work on it.
TOTAL
6 bolts on each end
and 2 bolts in the midle.

Drive shaft or half-shaft? I think you mean half shafts and yes the inner shaft will pop out of the gearbox. They are held by a spring clip and a groove. On the older 4000 models with 90mm CV joints were held by a long bolt. The inner CV joint itself is held by six bolts.
