Erratic Speedometer

The speedometer in my 96 Cabrio sweeps back and forth like out of control windscreen wipers. I have an electronic bentley, but any additional clues as to the cause would be helpful. Thanx

you need to resolder some semi loose connnections on hte back of the speedo
