I was just wondering what people have been able to get for a top speed out of their 5cyl 10v N/A. My personal best was 115, trying to keep up with a saab turbo. Anyone able to break the 120 Mark or higher?

 

I know u guys probably wont believe me but I absolutly swear that I pegged the needle at 160 MPH. I was driving on the flat part of Idaho at a very slight downgrade. A firebird flew past me at about 120 i fifgure he was pegging his electronic govoner. So i accelerated to about 130 or so and passed him and it felt so in control I just kept going. I pegged the needle at 160. Now i figure my speedo must be off a little but I have never ever gone that fast before and I have drivin a new modified z-28 camaro at 140 and this was definitly faster!!! Its funny because when I slowed it down to around 100 it felt like i was going 40 LOL but I was still definitly passing people ;-) I have a 86 5000CS quatro turbo. These cars feel like they were ment for the top speeds!

 

that adds credibility to my car's previous owner's claim of doing 150 across colorado. One of these days i'll have to try it

 

i hooked up a simple ram air setting to my friends 1988 audi 90 quattro the day he purchased it and we hit around 120 on a small stretch of road near my house.. the spedometer only goes up to 130 but...when he sells me the car im installing the 165+ one heh heh

we probably could have went faster but...eh his first stick car.

 

What did you make it out of? BTW I wouldnt waste your time putting in a 165mph speedo. Those engines wont do anything near that. I was hitting about 5k at 115 and it redlines at 6 and change. I think they max at like 128 or so.

 

heh pvc pipe ... i went to votech for a few months...and thankfully dropped out...and within the 2 months they taught me tons of little crap to do for cold air intakes ...mainly one was to use pvc pipe and snake it underneith the car. that wasnt to hard....im not even to sure if it did anything anyway but...its there..when we get money were probably gonna get a scoop put on the hood so we dont have to snake around underneith the car.

I got my 1990 100Q up to 110 w/o a problem. I was holding it there though b/c the freeway I was on is always swarming w/cops. I also don't wanna risk damaging it b/c of stupidity. That was last year. I take it easy on her now.

 

back when i had my older 100s, i just got another one same year 93, I saw too cars on the highway ready to race so i gunned it past both of them and they both took off towards me and my girlfriend claims i was doin 130 at one point but the fastest i saw was 125...

 

just done 125mph out mine and it didnt go bang either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
