Go to Autozone and have them check your charging system - They won't be able to tell you if it the alternator or regulator, but they can tell if it is putting out the appropriate amount of power.
The complexity of the swap depends upon which vehicle you own.

 

Took the alternator to Advance Auto and they said they couldn't take off the plastic casing in order to test the alternator. Of course they spent (seemingly) way too long in the back before they told me this so I'm not sure if they just didn't know... I ended up purchasing a rebuilt alternator for $100 and replacing it. The engine made a stronger attempt to turn over but still no luck with starting her up. Battery's drained some and with Christmas and New Years, it's been too busy to do anything else. Wonder if anyone would buy a used, non-working 93 Audi...
