ignition ECM?

i have an 85 4000 quattro. and it wont start due to no spark. i have checked the coil and it is a good operating order, and i was told the next thing to look at is the electronic ignition control moduel, but i have no clue where to find it. any help would be great.

somewhere in the footwells - DS near the door i think but i'm not sure though
