Ignition System Help needed
I have a 1984 Coupe GT that just started having a serious problem.
My ignition key does not turn on power to any accessories or to the starter; I have power at the battery, and to the interior of the car, as exhibited by the dome light and buzzer coming on when the door is opened.
I pulled the ignition switch and attempted to use a screw driver to manipulate the switch to no avail.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

TIA,
EngineBuilder
|
Ignition System Help needed
UPDATE:
Confirmed faulty ignition switch, as well as faulty starter;
removed/rebuilt starter with no troubles, tests out fine.
Following the directions in my haynes manual, (i know, i know) i removed the steering wheel, turn signal multiswitch, as well as the lock cylinder. I have come to the following problem: there is a lock washer holding a spring which keeps the ignition switch housing locked into its location. As this lock washer is fully circular, and apparently uses the springs' outward pressure to stay in place, i have no idea on how to remove the lock washer/spring combination.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

-EngineBuilder
|
Ignition System Help needed
Man, I thought that I was the only glutton for punishment. When I replaced my ignition switch I used a screw driver to pry off the locking washer. When I went to replace it, I used a deep set socket that fit over the steering shaft and tapped the spring down into position using a hammer. Good luck
