Power steering leak (92' 100)
 

I have a preety bad PS fluid leak on the 92' 100 I just got.

Since it's gettin colder here by the day I can't really just take my time tracking this down.

I guess my first step is gonna be to figure out how to remove the engine cover just to figure out where the leak is located at in the PS system....

I'm new to Audi's and dont have a repair manual yet so any help would be great

The old 5000/100/200 were bad leakers. The rinky dink rubber seals just fail over a period of time. I am not sure if that is the same problem on the '92 and newer models. You can get a new rebuild kit and see if it helps, in my case it didn't. I ended up fabricating my own seals from copper and aluminum.

Unfortunately that is what I had to do, I have read far too many complaints where the factory rebuilt ZF units would leak after a few months of use, and the leaks are not covered by warranty. The o-rings on the older steel body pumps are 22mm OD x 18mm ID x 2mm THK. To the best of my search abilities there are no commercially available crush washers that would fit. I believe that the pumps on 92 and later are different. The source of the leak could also be from the special banjo fittings that use o-rings.

I have not worked on the V6 but I have seen it up close. The cover is probably held by screws or bolts. If you look carefully you should be able to locate them.
