Trying to save my 1995 Audi 90 from the junk yard
 

Here is a list of things that have gone wrong with my Audi 90 in order of most urgent:

1- My water pump went out along with the timing belt. I would love to save the car and not buy a new one. I'd like to know a couple of things about this one2- At about 2200-2600 RPM, my oil light would come on, but at no other time. I check my levels constantly and it is always full. I have thought about a couple of things: It's either the oil pump sensor going badly, or I need new bearings for the oil pump.

3- My instrument cluster will not light up as well as the fog light leds and the rear window defroster led, and my back-up lights. I have replaced all the fuses, and the reverse light bulbs. And it worked for about 3 minutes and everything turned off again.

I really loved this car, and I've only had it for a year, so I'd like to get it up and in a driveable state before winter hits.

yes it would make more financial sense to get a new engine, better fuel economy etc etc and of course reliability. most common Audi engines like the 3.0 TDi will fit but consult a specialist and make sure you allow for new ECU and wiring of the electronics etc.

saying this timing belts and water pumps arent difficult, theyre just a pain in the ass and you need enough space and time to work. you may as well replace all gaskets whilst your there.

your oil light comes on because one of your wires has perished and is rubbing against another, trace your oil light/speed sensor wire back and look for the perished part and get some tape round it.

the reason again why your instrument cluster is blowing is because of a perished wire like the one for your oil light.

im not an expert but i have trawled forums after forums looking for answers and solutions and what your experiencing is very common and listed several times.
