Yes or No, this is the question

Hi guys and maybe dudets.
After some blood and couple of mistakes, maybe a lot mistakes. And working 2 days, about 4 hours a day. The HEATER CORE is OUT. And believe its is small and [a lot of bad words]. So before I start putting it all back should I share the way, the way that does not require taking out the A/C. Should I Share my wisdom? Or keep it all to my self?
Its is easy if I would rate it it would be about 6 out of 10. for me first time no manual or guide or help it was 10 of 10.

The time table:
1h thinking what to take out or unscrew.
2h thinking what else
3h unscrewing
4h thinking to quit or stay on the way with bloody hands

5h cursing and trying to unscrew the unscreeble
6h taking out the stiring wheel, dash
7h taking the torpido out and geting under it and geting stuck for half an hour and yada yada yada
8h cursing a lot more taking a brake trying, trying and finaly taking it out.

RE: Yes or No, this is the question

Well nobody answer or write, so I guess you dont whant the guide to change the heater core, even thought its a huge problem in many old audies, well till monday, then I buy new heater and hope I will be finished in a matter of hours. Also change the thermostat for cooler one for two reasons to compinsate for bad radiator and to be able to use cheaper fuel with less ditanation.

PS dudes do you have detanation on your cars or not, couse I had very bad one while driving on regular fuel and a bit overheating? I switched to primium and detonation become less or olmost disapeard.

RE: Yes or No, this is the question

I think that somebody has already posted instructions or steps for changing the heater core.

I use mostly premium on my car, I get better mileage and performance. If you have detonation it could be due to too much carbon build up, air fuel mixture incorrect (too lean), knock sensor isn’t working, the ignition timing is off, head or engine deck was milled too much, overheating, etc.

If you are running too hot do a search on the “All Other Audi Models” forum. I have posted several problems common to the 5000/100/200 models.

I did search and found only how to change the fan. Which is much easier to find and change.
