Air Suspension Leak
Hi all,
I have a really bad air leak on my 2000 2.7T Allroad. The front left suspension strut is leaking so badly that the compressor can't lift it up at all. I was wondering if it's ok to drive the car with deflated air bag if I find the way to disconnect the compressor so it doesn't burn out? Provided that the rest of the wheels are on level 1. Any thoughts? Alem |
Official documentation states that you may damage the suspension by driving it in that condition. Now, having said that, I was forced to drive mine in the same condition for a bit, and seem to have made it through without any damage.
I didn't replace the bag to fix the issue either, I squirted some Slime into the bag and haven't had a problem since. :) |
You can eventually burn out the pump. Bad part is, pump has a cut off if it gets too hot. Which it will if you drive like that. And then it wont go on for a while so if you need air in the other bags, youre screwed. I wouldnt drive it at all with bag toasted. Maybe a few miles or so but thats it.
