Hi,
I have just purchased a 2003 Allroad 2.5TDI (180bhp). Fuel consumption is on a par with my CLK55! Best yet on a motorway trip at a steady 70mph(!) is 30.6mpg. Short journeys are around 23mpg. Audi say the "adaptive gearbox" needs to get used to my driving as the car was on sale for months and only moved around their yard. The car also has a mechanical whistle even at very slow speed; sounding disturbing like being followed by a police car!
Any ideas?

It is indeed like a high pitched dentist's drill - in the next room so to speak!

 

sounds like a leak or a bad turbo not an expert
