Default Audi Allroad 2005 Doorlight and Alarm on even after closing the door.

Audi Allroad 2005 Doorlight and Alarm on even after closing the door. The door alarm gets loud and remains so for 2 minutes after I switch on my headlights Dealer says I need a new latch over $600. Anyone else experienced these issues?.. Before I go give my two weeks paycheck to the dealer

avoid the dealer.first, if it has never been done spray the latch assembly with white lithium grease and see if that cures the problem. If this has been done already many times because you have had trouble getting the door to latch on closing then spray the latch with a product called Superzilla, The Green Wonder product. Hard to find and sold through Meijer Stores in Michigan. It is a superior product to WD-40 and cleans, lubricates and penetrates. This product cured the same issue on my 03 allroad after years of spraying white lithium grease. If this still doesn't cure the issue, open the door and look at the latch. If you see a small raised part of the mechanism sticking up, press it down with your finger until it is flush and close the door softly. If you must replace the latch then seek out a trusted independent mechanic for replacement at less than half of what the dealership is quoting you.
