Is it possible to install / upgrade my 2001 allroad with the AUDI navigation system? My car did not come with the option originally. I have seen instructions around...but not sure if they assume you need a car with the option to begin with...Any feedback will be appreciated....

Thanks.

Just found www.vagnavs.com....they say is possible and sell a package with all instructions and parts. Has anyone tried their installation kit?

Thanks again.

Honestly, I have the navigation system in my Lincoln Navigator and have found that (unless you buy the Newly updated DVD every year) it goes obsolete as roads are changed/reconfigured and soon you have misguided information. I have found that the Google operating system that is found on the new Motorola Droid Smart phones are absolutely phenomenal!! The are WAY CHEAPER to buy, they can do a lot more (+ its a phone!) and simply have some of the very best guidance around with minimal issues ever! I drive 50-65k miles a year all over Pennsylvania as a bank rep and I can honestly tell you that you wont find anything better. AND...you can take it with you (out of the car) so as not to have your in dash NAV system bait a potential criminal into breaking into your car. I absolutely LOVE my Motorola Droid smart phone and don't know how I did without it. It really has no limits!! I would never buy another car with a navigation system in it again as it is a pure waste of money when we have the technology today on cell phones. Oh, and by the way....the application is free and it automatically downloads updates and software changes over the air on the cell phone FREE of CHARGE! And I like free! That's my .02

honestly, i would go aftermarket. it is actually pretty damn easy to install... aftermarkets are full of features and really robust. you can get a killer unit for $300-$400 and this wiring should be no more than $50...

The 2001 Allroad that I just bought is equipped with the OEM navigation system. It is primitive at best. It's nice to have an integrated OEM system, but an aftermarket system or even a system on an iPhone or other smart phone is vastly superior.
